Final entry of interaction design jornal.

 

The big thing that I have learnt through this project is what is the interaction design is about and how to work with design process. To keep posting blog every week, I comprehended what to do as a group, and it push me to do more work. And, actually it makes me to do self-examination for each week and makes me more concern to the group work. Also, wiki page shows clearly how have we been through with the design progress, what we need to do, what we’ve missing for the next process. It was really helpful and time manageable with the timeline of the progress.

with the consultation with blair, he gave us really helpful feedbacks, and indicate what we have to do to approach outcomes. But at the bigging, even tania had a presentation about what is interaction design, i couldn’t understand what exactly is that about. that was one of difficulty when i was working on this project. through the research of articles and readings, I realize what is the interaction design.

because “Interaction design” is really wide and broad, so it makes confuse what is Id, or not.

first time, i thought it is kind of high technologies, after that i misunderstood as a industrial design.

throught the consulation with tania and blair, we found our ways and what to do for Interaction design, But at the beginning, It was bit hard to understand what is this about.

As a group, I really appreciate to other group members. I am really gratified with what have been through as a group. There were lots of opinions and ideas about issue and we were negotiate each other’s ideas pretty well, and participate everyone eve time really well. Also, the teaching method which is readings about interaction design was really useful to make an outline of our outcomes. I’m satisfied with how we have been through as a team as well as individual. I realize work as a team is not really hard and even more enjoyable thing with others. Also, the things I have learnt through lot of information make me feel more confident to become a designer.

 

Week 12. Moderation & nearly end of semester..

 

This week, during the class, we were doing moderation which is marking myself about Interaction design. The things that i did well during this semester are reading and group work.
I am not really familiar with group work, but with this project, I learnt how to communicate with team members, how to organize project with group memebers, and Time management.
anyway, I had fun with sitting as circle with classmates and talk about this semester.

The thing! we are doing now is… prototyping and usertesting.
for the essay, we already divided our section followed by what each group memebers concerned about. and we’re planning to finish indivisual section by this week.

For the prototying, we did some design drawings and instruction that how it works.
It’s sound control which is using by particular brain section and White noise.
we’re going to make a sound control handfree with white noise systems and automatic movement amplitude  modulation. (frequency?)
machine has two button. - White noise  and frequency control
By using this machine, we can reduce the annoying noises from neighbors or outside of house. 
Brain control is, by paralysis part of brain for a while, we can control the sound. if we don’t wanna hear sonds,  Just by delete the button, frequency goes into the brain and that frequency paralysis 
particular section of brain which is about sounds. 
or, this machine can adjust noise autometically by machine itself.

week 11. Our project, It happens to me

 

I’ve got an really annoying neigborhood – which is screaming in fornt of my door everyday!
I don’t know how many guys are screaming in front of my door! :(
but My apartement is  Student apartment, and many people lives in here, 
They’re screaming at the 11th foor corridor, every 12o’clock… It’s INSANE!!
Even when they’re cooking someting at home, they’re opening their door, and make people at 11th floor to smell how nice is their food. EW! even it’s disgustingl.

I kept give notice to next door, But after i give notice to him, Its even worser situation than before.
also, few weeks ago, I told someone at the reception office that they’re too noisy and smelly, so me and my sharemates are suffering from that guys. and office people said they shouldn’t do that, and they will give notice to that house, but they’re still doing this. even they’re screaming in front of my house.   really annoying, and suffering from noise… but actually there is no solution for it otherwise they are shut up. 
yeah again, I think the only way of kiiling noise is white noise and brain contolling which is we’re thinking about our outcome.

With consultation with Blair, We showed our prototype drawings and ideas.
We thought it’s prototype, but it was just sketchs for the prototyping,
i think i misunderstood about it. needs to read more information about it!
and it’s week 11, so we wrote some outline of project report. I think we needs to specify more,
but It’s time to start writing our essay. we don’t wants to rush end of semester.

 through the readings from tania, i mentioned about how i think about our outcomes and i guessed how is our outcomes going to be. and at week 7, after video presentation we did this project map.
we put our group names between service design and techology. because at that moment we were considering white noise machines as a final outcomes. we changed our way for outcome a bit, but i think we are still on the same track. I am satisfied with our outcomes.

Week 9-10.

In this week, with the group meeting, we start to working on the sernario.
During the consultation with Blair, He gave us more feedback for persona, so, we’re going to developing it,
and going to finish the senario.

                    What kinds of person? 
                    What kinds of thing are they concern?

2. Senarios – What are they concern about personal space?

 

Let’s talk about Essay. we’ve been talking about report and how to start it.
Blair said, we need to start with bullet point idea, and organize where to put all informations and ideas.
we haven’t finish our eassay yet, with the group meeting, going to start to organize it.

and for the outcome, we’re thinking about brain control which is the ideas form aon.
It’s handsfree headset, and with some frequency, we can delete the annoying sounds from neighbors.
This is just basic idea for the outcome, we are going to develop it through the group meeting.

Reading > Stephan sagmeister. 

It shows how stephan got an inspiration from other works, and reminds me how important is writing journal for the design progress as an designer. He mentioned on his journal some inspirations and thoughts about his life, and it became his design. (July 21, journal). It take the audience on a whimsical journy of moments in his life that have made him happy. also It was quiet impressive work that he shown on his body drawing cut into his skin.

 

Week 9

 

In this week, we’re start to working on the persona. we got 2 persona per each, and during the group meeting, we’re going to put all persona together, and start to working on the senario.
for outcome, we decide to do the white noise idea, but havn’t discussed yet what exactly can it be.

Reading

Usablitity for the web deisngers :: common sense approach to web usability – steve krug.

for the Don’t make me think readings, I skim through the readings, It was about How to create practical website. such as how to make a clear website, and how the user interact with web. It can be helpful, but at this stage, I needs concerned more about paper prototying reaidng, so I going to review paper prototyping.

this reading indicates more practical user interface modeling with paper.
Paper prototyping is helps to improve the final outcome, all you need is paper, pens scissors and imagination!
This reading shows how it’s working with paper, and explanation with photoimages makes me understands and helps me to what to do, how to work with our project outcome.

 

week 8. AGIDEA 2008

Due to AGIDEA, and 2 of our group member was not able to attend to the class,
we could not disscuss about our project not that much.
In this week, we’re trying to do more research for the outcome.
we’ve got an basic idea for outcome which is white noise,
but havn’t got good idea for real final outcome.

 

 

Week7. Vedio Presentation week.

 

Finally we finished our video work! and had a presentaion during the class!
we’re satisfied about our work. Very aesthetic & creative idea.

we’re trying to make people intrige about outcome part, that was what we intend to do.
But, i think most people couldn’t understand what is that about.
Even on the feedback sheet, all people wrote that they can not cleary understand what is our outcome about.
anyway for 3week, we’ve done really hard! I’m satisfied with our work.

Week6. Understanding Design

 

In this stage, we concerned about video presentation. next week is video presentation week!
after we did some idea brainstroming and sketch board, we got an certain video story duing last week.
our video needs some technical works, so in this week, we’re working on the technical work such as imovie, photoshop, and flash. I hope it’s going to work well!

                    Understanding Design – Kees Dorst

The readings that I responded most is the OUTSTANDING DESIGNERS article.
I strongly agree with this reading.
During I Studied in design schools for few years,
I saw many outstanding design student, there were some modest students about their inborn gift of achievement, on the other hands, there are elated on there talented design skill.
Unfortunately, some of elated students are disappear with their confidence of their artistic natural disposition. because they know they are really good at this, and negligence about basic design rule.
I feel embrassed about this, but for a while, I got an self opinion about my artistic talent.
but I realized be conceite is the most dangerous trap to be good designer.
They’re(some of them) always lean on theire innate talent, and sometimes easlily ignore the really basic rule of design. I think than, they just don’t needs to come to design school. even if you are really talented, design school is exist to learn something more and make talented person to become more outstanding designer.
The thing that good to hear is design school don’t really consider about this.
Design school make their design students have more opportunities to be good designer.
But I think design school needs to prepare about these some extra case  unless it lead to self-destruction.

 I looked through all reading from understanding design,
some of them, I felt sympathy which is like relfection, unsure.

week 5. video presentation?

 
I found out really good video exactly about our issue.
This is talking about Invasion of Privacy that people who is living in apartment.
I found from youtube. This video called “Studio Apartment”

It shows clearly about What is the problems in one screen. They devide city living problems to watching, noise which is the biggest problem of city living. (exactly same as we’re doing!)

so.. Let’s start to do our video!
through the group meeting, we’ve got some ideas to show our issue.
From the survey, we’ve got different kind of problmes of Privacy. so, we are going to divide our problems to three section which is smell, watch and noise problems.

here are some ideas for the video.

- Stop motion (take photos & edit by photoshop)
-> use flash to link all photos together. -> finish by imovie.
- Show apartment pic or drawing at the first scence
-> to show It’s CITY LIVING.
- Close to the apartment – show inside of apartment.
-> show each problem to each floor (total 3 floors)
- For the Background of problems
-> put eyes, nose, mouse to represent where is this problems coming from.

week 5. Outcomes?

 

From the research, anna found some good outcome ideas which is called “white noise”.
White Noise is is a combination of sound frequencies in equal amounts.
And you can hear that by running of fan,turning on humidfier and so on. This sounds are just from our surroundings. (Information from anna’s blog)

Service design, like system design…, focuses on context – on the entire system of use.
People use products (often with others) in environments in structured processes. Service design, really, is designing this whole system of use. The system is the service.

wher it takes place, tells user what is possible physical or digital location.

Processes:
How the service is acted out, there can be multiple pathways through the service.

service comes alive through people, both customer an emplyee are users of the service.
